FAQs
No. The certificate is bound to an NTAG 424 DNA chip with AES-128 encryption, which generates a new signature on every tap. A copied chip can't produce a valid one, so it fails verification. It's the same kind of security used in contactless payments.
No. Hold your phone near the chip and the certificate opens in the browser, with no app and no account. The Aurea app is only needed to issue certificates or keep yours in one place.
Almost certainly. Any iPhone from the XS onwards reads the chip just by holding it close. iPhone 7, 8 and X read it from the NFC reader in Control Center. Most Android phones have NFC too: if nothing happens, turn it on in Settings.
It stops verifying, and that's deliberate: a chip pulled off one object can't be stuck on a fake. The owner reports it from the app, and whoever issued the certificate approves a new chip for it.
Yes. Verifying only records the time, the approximate location and the type of device, never who you are. Personal data is only collected if you create an account to own a certificate, with your consent, and it is stored in the EU.
